About this Blog/Website

“Women in Florida History” is a blog created for a graduate class on social media and instruction. Our goal is to develop skills and resources to use in secondary education classrooms through hands on experiences.

My reason for choosing this topic is three  fold:

1)  Women are often overlooked in history, or mentioned literally in the margins of textbooks. As a resident of Florida I find this to be especially true.

2) I am a passionate feminist and lover of history and learning. Why not put the two together and learn little something in the process?

3 ) I love mermaids.  And this blog is a perfect excuse to research Weeki Wachee Springs!
